From February, 2022.
One day, we took a drive from Las Cruces north to Hatch, New Mexico.
Hatch is a bit of a tourist trap. We walked up and down the main two streets with Callie. The small town is the self-proclaimed chile capital of the world.
Then we went to Sparky's for a chili cheeseburger and chili fries. I also had a chili chocolate malt.

Weirdest malt ever |
Other sights that make a fellow go hmm.
Hatch falls into that category of places where I'm glad I visited but probably won't feel compelled to return anytime soon.

A once in a lifetime experience, eh? You only need to go once in your lifetime. We also enjoyed a day there and enough time has past that I wouldn't mind seeing it again. Have to give them credit for finding a niche for supporting their local economy.
I certainly give them credit for that. A lot of small towns in the West don't hang their hats on much of anything at all. I'm a fan of their local chile, and we bought some jars of various salsas and sauces back home with us. Probably won't have enough chocolate malt with chile though. You have to eat it with a spoon because the chiles would get stuck in a straw.
