During our week at Blackhawk COE, we drove across the river to see whether things looked any different on the Iowa side. Perhaps it's psychological, but we've always had more fun on the Iowa side than the Wisconsin or Illinois side. The Iowa towns are well-kept, prices are lower, and people seem friendlier. Wikipedia
On the other side of the river from our campground via Hwy 82 is the town of Lansing, Iowa.
Up a steep road (for Iowa) is Mount Hosmer Park. It has a nice trail system overlooking the river and was a great place to take Callie for a hike. Alltrails shows only about a mile, but we found other connecting trails and lookouts.
Later we walked around town.
We found a place called Safehouse that had good pizza and craft beer.
